Dear Friend,
It was a group of exasperated Venetian citizens who lit the
spark which, in the year 2000, became Confederazione Veneziana.
Frustrated and angered at the inefficiencies and corruption
present in government institutions in the Venices*,
we were determined to create a truly independent organization
- embodying the traditional Venetian values of laboriosity,
justice and integrity - which would fight against inefficiency,
injustices and corruption, vigorously and courageously on
behalf of all citizens irrespective of their political or
religious beliefs.
To ensure that no one stopped us from achieving our objectives,
we protected our freedom and independence with scrupulous
care, and we will continue to do so. We are in the pocket
of no government, religious or economic power. And there
is one thing, and one thing alone, which kept us that way:
the private support of individuals and organizations committed
to our cause. We rely on them for the majority of our funding
- and thanks to them we are able to make no compromises.
Over the past years, we have tackled many issues - some battles
we lost, many more we won. However, no sooner do we manage
to win a battle that new laws and regulations are quickly
promulgated to restore the status quo. We have therefore decided
to move away from focused technical interventions on government
agencies and to concentrate instead on the root causes of
institutional inefficiencies.
Thus, now the aim of Confederazione Veneziana is to bring
about deep reaching institutional, social and economic changes
based on those ideas and principles that motivated with extreme
success our Venetian Forefathers - free enterprise, institutional
integrity, limited government and individual liberty.
As institutional entrepreneurs, we believe in fact that the
most effective solutions to contemporary problems are drawn
from our country's institutional, historical, economic and
social heritage.
Having had the determination and strategic vision to seek
opportunity in crisis, we still face the enormous challenge
of building CV's organizational capability to meet the demands
of this new strategy. We need to attract members and staff
with experience in institutional development and heritage
protection. We need to acquire the systems and the infrastructure
required to manage an endeavour on the scale that we now envisage.
And Confederazione Veneziana needs substantial financial support.
As a consequence, we are engaging in a systematic capacity
building effort to address each of these gaps. One of the
first results of our efforts is represented by this website.
A principal tool in the fight for institutional reforms is
access to information - it is in this spirit that we offer
this website to all who care about the principles of free
enterprise, institutional integrity, limited government and
individual liberty. Furthermore, we hope this website will
also enable questioning, open-minded people to discover for
themselves the value and significance of the institutional
and ethical heritage left to us by our Venetian Forefathers.
Dear Friend, we do recognize CV is up against heavy odds
and has very limited resources. However we are very determined
individuals and we all have a passionate commitment to Confederazione
Veneziana's mission.
We believe we are being given an historic opportunity, and
we cannot fail to make the most of it. It is the least we
owe to our Venetian Forefathers, and to the next generation
who will live with the result of what we accomplish, or fail
to accomplish, today.
