Confederazione Veneziana aims to concentrate its efforts
on institutions and institutional faults with the goal of
identifying and correcting whatever systemic problems have
allowed lack of integrity to become so widespread in the Venices*.
Our objective is to re-introduce a culture of ethics and
integrity within public institutions and society in North-East*
Italy, and our emphasis will be on prevention and on reforming
systems, not on exposing individual cases.
Our efforts will be channelled along two distinct but overlapping
directions:
lack of ethics and integrity in public institutions,
and
lack of ethics and integrity in society.
This is based on the realization that a culture of ethics
and integrity within public institutions can survive and thrive
only if the society within which these institutions operate
is upholding such a culture.
And vice versa, if a culture of ethics and integrity is firmly
embedded in society then the drive for honest and accountable
public institutions will be much easier, and the culture of
integrity within these institutions will develop stronger
and deeper roots.
(*) For the purpose of CV's
work, the words "Venices", "Venetia" and
"Northeast Italy" are interchangeable, and are taken
as meaning the historical Venices within Northern Italy -
i.e. the current italian regions of Venezia Tridentina-Sud
Tirol/Alto Adige, Venezia Euganea, Friuli-Venezia Giulia,
the current provinces of Bergamo, Brescia, Cremona (i.e. Venezia
Orobica), and Mantua.
