Establish a Chapter

There are no hard and fast rules about the structure or status of a group of individuals who wish to work in support of Confederazione Veneziana's objectives - thus, a Chapter (i.e. a local section) may consist of an already-existing organization or else one created specifically for the purpose of serving as the movement's local link.
Each Chapter is indigenous and wholly locally owned. It is therefore free to do what it judges best, provided only that the principle of non-partisanship is observed and that its policies and activities are consistent with Confederazione Veneziana's mission and core values.

Below are some extracts from CV's "Notes on the Formation of Cantonal Chapters".
These notes illustrate approaches which have been successfully adopted by a number of foreign organizations. You may find them helpful if you are considering establishing a chapter.

1) You may wish first to form a small steering group of like-minded individuals, drawing from as many different sectors as possible to ensure a wide initial potential support. While they should all be prepared to dedicate some time and effort in the undertaking, one person should be assigned the role of over-all coordinator.

2) With a core group identified, this can be brought together to plan the next phases of the exercise. An early decision will be needed on the person who is to be the Chair, and on the Executive who will advise him/her. The qualities looked for in a Chair include a reputation for personal integrity, a willingness to devote time to chapter promotion and building, and who is seen as being above "party political point-scoring".

Why this emphasis on the Chairperson's personal qualities rather than skills?
At Confederazione Veneziana we don't care so much about skills, but we care about "culture". We now see ethics and attitude as critical qualities. Skills are also important, but we put them second as most skills can be assimilated or developed by someone with the right attitude and with an interest in what they are doing!

(*) For the purpose of CV's work, the words "Venices", "Venetia" and "Northeast Italy" are interchangeable, and are taken as meaning the historical Venices within Northern Italy - i.e. the current italian regions of Venezia Tridentina-Sud Tirol/Alto Adige, Venezia Euganea, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the current provinces of Bergamo, Brescia, Cremona (i.e Venezia Orobica), and Mantua.
