Leave a Bequest

Our long term goals can only be achieved with the invaluable help of many of our supporters who have named the Venezie Institute as a beneficiary in their will. And that is why, when drafting or changing your will, we would like you to think of us and the future generations who will benefit from our work.

Why Making a Will Is So Important
Making a will is one of the most important acts of your life. Even so, over half of the people die without doing so. Without a will the law will decide what happens to your estate. This may cause distress and heartache to those you love and value most: family and closest friends. By making a will your Executors (the people you appoint to administer your estate) will ensure that your final wishes are faithfully carried out in respect of gifts to family, friends and favourite charities.

Making Alterations to Your Will
A new will can be made at any time, but for minor alterations you can add a Codicil with the help of your solicitor.

Leaving a Bequest to the Venezie Institute
There are several ways in which you can leave a bequest to the Venezie Institute. You can choose one of the following types of bequest, or a combination, and incorporate them in your will as appropriate.
The four main types of bequests are:

  • Residuary bequest: this is the balance of your estate after tax (if any) and other types legacies have been paid. For example, it will be the residue, or part of the residue, of your estate after your family and friends have been provided for;
  • Pecuniary bequest: this is an exact sum of money, (e.g.€20,000);
  • Specific bequest: this is a gift of personal possessions such as furniture, paintings, house, car, etc.;
  • Reversionary bequest: this is a bequest of any kind which will not become payable until after the death of a named person. For example, you may wish to leave a life interest in your home to a member of your family with the provision that, after their death, it should pass to another person or charitable organization.

It is very important that wills are written accurately and it may be helpful to you and your solicitor to know how to word a bequest in favour of the Venezie Institute. Thus, please contact us in advance in order to assist with the wording of the will.

If you have decided to leave a bequest to the Venezie Institute we would like to thank you for your kindness and generosity. To do this we would like you to contact us, advising us of your intentions.

Once we have received your pledge we will be delighted to present you with a beautiful framed certificate on parchment to commemorate your very special contribution to the Venezie Institute. All bequests eventually received by the Venezie Institute will be entered into our Book of Honour.

If you would like further information on the work carried out by the Venezie Institute before you pledge a bequest, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be delighted to meet with you and show you at first hand the work that we do.
